Reducing our CO2 Footprint

Allmed Medical Industries GmbH, an Allmed centre of excellence, produces synthetic hollow fibre membranes used for blood purification in dialyzers. The production process necessitates the considerable consumption of a solvent and water.

In January 2019, Allmed installed a state of the art distillation system, engineered and built in Germany, by highly specialised experts in the field. The new system uses bespoke technology which significantly reduces gas consumption, thus reducing our CO2 footprint by up to 15,000 tonnes per year.

Consequently, both water consumption and special waste output will also be reduced significantly.

Allmed are very happy to be working with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) from whom investment has been secured thanks to the subsidies provided by the fund for projects with a climate protection impact.
